A New Pub With Old Roots:
Dooley's
Irish Pub, located at 442 Water Street in Eau
Claire, is seeking to create something very
new, yet classic at the same time. The newly
opened establishment is nestled right in one
of the oldest parts of town, yet it is not your
typical downtown pub. Smoke free, casual, and
inviting, Dooley's is a radical departure from
the smoke-filled, loud-music-pumping stereotypical
college-town bar scene.
The owners, Mike and Jennifer Dooley (both Eau
Claire natives), know the downtown area well.
They both attended college at UWEC, and held
jobs on Water Street during their college careers.
They both have been here a long time, and are
looking forward to their pub being an established
part of the downtown Eau Claire culture.
Dooley's employs an unusual mix of old and new,
classic and modern to attract their diverse
crowd of visitors. For instance their carefully
crafted logo is a "Claddagh." The Claddagh is
the Irish symbol for Love, Friendship, and Loyalty,
and has its roots in Roman times. Contrast their
Irish roots to the pub's very sports-friendly
interior (there are a number of sports TV's
everywhere inside), and it becomes apparent
that this establishment does indeed have a wide
range of appeal. In the few months they have
been open, they have not only seen their traffic
steadily increase, but they have successfully
attracted a variety of age groups.
This hasn't been at all by accident though.
Through careful positioning, diversification,
and ambitious involvement in the community sports
scene they have been able to create and maintain
a consistent image throughout the community.
With their #1 ranked local volleyball team and
up-and-coming sponsored hockey team, they are
able to increase visibility in the community
through specially designed eye-catching team
jerseys and uniforms emblazoned with the Dooley's
Irish pub logo.
On site, Dooley's sells a limited quantity of
branded modern style clothing (Tshirts, Baby
Tees) targeted at the younger crowd. They also
offset their appeal to the younger-more sports
oriented crowd by offering more conservative,
embroidered polo shirts to their customers as
well. In this way, they can ensure that virtually
anyone who wants Dooley's merchandise can find
something they like.
Using promotional items has definitely helped
Dooley's establish themselves in the community.
The Pub has been able to promote and maintain
a consistent brand image through various channels
and to different audiences. Powertex Group can
put the power of promotional items, gift cards,
and events to work for you and your company.
